Printer Friendly Articles?

I just printed out a couple articles (hit print and walked away) and after spitting out 40 pages of paper, I realized they are not printer friendly, the right 1" or so is cut off.
Is there a way to get printer friendly ones out there? I travel a bit and like to take some plane reading with me.

Thanks!!

Mike, at the bottom of every page is a `show printable version' down near `subscribe to this thread'.
It alters the format to make it work better on printers ... you can even get those giant threads all on one page . I prefer to copy/paste into Word to minimize my margins, get the text a little smaller, and waste less paper ... but you can print straight of IE if you have the `print version'.

Hope it helps.

ugh, third time it `double posted' me in a row.

Mark

I'm talking about Reefkeeping Magazine and unless I'm blind, there is no button like that. :D

Try highlighting just the text and printing just the selected area.

No, I'm the blind one :)

Agreed, that's the only negative comment about the magazine [other than it's not a weekly!].

I think it's about the same as printing off RC pages ... at least so my experience is. Wonder if we could get greg or some other wizard to have a similar `printable version' button.

Nope...doesn't work. I even tried it again and changed the margins from the standard .75" down to .5" on the right and left and it made no difference.

I've had mixed luck copying and pasting into Word. Works sometimes [and makes it printable].

Else you just have to do as I've done and waste a lot of paper [printing landscape mode] ... as that WILL `work'.

mhurley 06/14/2004 04:04 PM

No...I want Greg to get off his butt and add the printer friendly button.

;)

Now I'll go sit quietly until I get banned.

I believe if you have Acrobat you can transfer the file to that format and then print it.

mhurley 06/14/2004 05:38 PM

I have acrobat reader (as I'm sure many do), but don't have Acrobat.

Do you know if it's a big deal to add that "Printer Friendly" link to the article? I thought it was just canned code to reformat the page...I could be wrong...

Skipper 06/14/2004 08:39 PM

Honestly, I don't know, Mike. We talked long ago about offering the magazine in an Acrobat version too, but that is on hold for the moment.

mhurley 06/14/2004 09:14 PM

ok...thanks!! I'll try the Word copy/paste thing for now...Just a thought on a future enhancement.

Skipper -

Please take both of our interests in this as respect for the great stuff you got in there

Hope your frags from IMAC are doing well, was great to meet you :)

Skipper 06/14/2004 09:43 PM

Thanks, Mark. Yeah, nice meeting you too. All the frags are doing well. :D

mhurley 06/14/2004 09:44 PM

Oh yea...Great stuff...Just want to print out like 15 articles from past issues to read on a flight to Atlanta tomorrow.

Thanks SKipper!

Skipper 10/01/2006 09:29 PM

Try printing with the new beta of IE7. It works wonderfully.

Billybeau1 10/01/2006 09:54 PM

Uh....... your a little late Skipper. I think he took his flight already.

And a few more I'm sure.

Skipper 10/01/2006 09:56 PM

Yeah, but I'm sure he'll take another flight... :D
