Removing Xenia from rock

what is the best way for removing xenia off of a rock without leaving tissue behind??

If it is a small piece, you can lay a piece of rubble next to it and allow it to attach. That usually works well, and you get to keep the xenia. It doesnt take very long, either.

no i have a bunch of it all over my tank
it spread to much
tryed removing some before but left a tiny piece of tissue that isnt tiny anymore

Trim it back to the tiny piece of tissue and glue over it with superglue gel or place a tiny piece of epoxy over it. I also use a hard toothbrush to get rid of the tiny pieces of tissue left behind. It is a good day for me when I can peel the xenia off in one piece and not leave tissue.

Freeze some RO water ice cubes and keep it on the base untill easy to peel away.

Works for me.

If the rock has a lot of tiny crevasses then it can be difficult to eradicate it. Sometimes you need to replace the rock with new rock and sell off the xenia. I had some on a rock that I took out of my tank, removed the xenia, ran it under hot water and scrubbed the rock with a wire brush. It came back 2 weeks later as a tiny little spec and grew from there.

kalk paste on the tissue will kill it.

scissors...

You can use a chisel to "skin" the rock, taking a thin layer of rock with the Zenia. Works for Aiptasia and corallimorphs too.

You can also peel it off with serrated tweezers. Sometimes the whole colony can be ripped off cleanly, still intact and ready to frag onto something else.

kalk paste. put it in a syring and inject it into the tissuse that is still on the rock and that tissuse should die and decompose off the rock.
