How many powerheads?

Hey guys,

I need to get some powerheads for my 50g and was wondering how many...the tank is 36" wide, 18x18...with 3-4" of sand. So how many will it be? I was thinking 2 koralia 2's...this ok or should I go some other route (brand, size, etc.)?

Thanks,

sean!

How much LR and is it a reef or FOWLR?

Koralias are a great powerhead but limited in controll and versitality which to a newbie can be very usefull. I would get 1 #4 and a powerhead with flow control knob and duckbill tip for dirrection control. These also are very usefull for water changes as a plastic hose will let you drain and fill for changes.
Then depending on amount of rock , placement , coral and amount of stock , you may beed another powerhead for spot flow or better flow.
Here are a few good articales.GL.

How much LR and LS and all the other stuff i asked. And i would say no. I use a #2 for spot flow in a 75 and not impressed.
It would help if you add much more info in your profile like Lighting , equipment , type of tank and LR and substrate as it all matters and would narrow down your response alot faster.

Also read the links a gave and this one also. SW is all about planning and patiants.
