Sunpod 150 hqi
 

Hey everybody! I'm planning within the next few weeks to be switching my 16 gal sps cube to a new 18 gal ada tank. I am currently running a 6 bulb HO t-5 (individual ref.) unit over the tank.... but I miss the shimmer lines and growth under MH. Does anyone have pictures of the tanks lit by the 150 watt sunpod? pictures would be great!;)

well I suppose I can start things off with a picture of my current tank (pictures are about 2 months old) thanks for all your help

Here is a pic of my aquapod 24 gal with the sunpod. I'm using the 14k bulb that comes with the sunpod. Pretty bright I must say!

wow! that looks really bright. is the bulb color really that blue in person? i was hopeing for sumting a little whiter

Yea that is realy bright.

Its not that blue really. Its blue, but not blue like 20ks which are extremely blue. If you get a sunpod and don't want the bulb, you can go and get another bulb. I find that their bulb is pretty good.

I have a sunpod 150 over a biocube 29. The setup is very similar looking to the picture mikekman posted. My illumination is quite bright and definitely on the white side of the light spectrum. However, my lighting is definitely brighter in the middle band of the tank with the front and back falling off on the overall brightness. I really don't mind because it allows me accomodate some different coral lighting requirements. I know the biocube is a bit bigger than the aquapod and I believe a little deeper in dimension. Also as a nice perk, the blue LED lights really bring out the luminencense of corals at night if you keep the white LED lights off. Its almost like having a black light on the tank.

The stock blub is very white even though it is suppoesed to be a 14k. If you just replace the bulb with an 20k it will be much bluer. PLus you'll have to replace the bulb soon anyway. I don't really trust the stock bulbs that come with those kinds of fixtures.
