Nice Boweri. Good Luck seeing any pics of a TRUE Acan Maxima. They are only found in Oman waters

Yeah, anything you see labeled as a maxima is likely a bowerbanki. Maximas come only from the Sea of Oman. The current King of Oman does not permit collection in his waters. And what he says is the law in those parts.

Mine are finishing off a featherduster worm. I posted a thread about it a while ago. Thing jumped to its death and ended up being eaten by my bowerbankii.

Are you sure the feather duster didn't just shed the crown? They do that occasionally. It just doesn't seem like that Acan polyp can eat the whole worm.

I can't get NEARLY as good of a picture but mine looks exactly like Grisha's in person. The individual polyps are as big my 15 head acan lord colony!

My acan also caught my coco worm when he popped his crown awhile back. Poor little echinata couldn't eat the thing though and let go of most of it the next day

man it is the same thing i can recognize it anytime ....how long do you have it ?

Lol, they do look exactly the same. When i saw your pic, i thought someone with a good camera and talent broke in and took pics for me:lol:

I've had mine about 4 months i think. Doing well so far and eats pretty good.

Grisha-sufunk: I have a similar looking coral that I have been trying to ID for a while. it kind of looks like an acan echinata, but the polyps are 2" to 4".

and i have another experience with this.... it does have ehinata strength ...it fell on the side of my favia pentagona and favia took a heavy damage and this acan was not affected at all .....

I'd say your's is definitely the same thing as mine and Grisha's, just different coloration. What they exactly are, who knows for sure:confused:

I've been told by many that mine is a Maxima and it was sold as most likely a Maxima. However, people in the know say that it can't be because Maxima's don't come in the colorations we have but they can't say what type of acan it actually is???

In my mind, it is a Maxima and it looks REALLY sweet in my tank, so i'm HAPPY!:)

I thought it might be a hillae or potentially a new species. It looks more like an echinata than anything, but the polyps are so big. Echinatas just dont get 3" to 4" polyps.

Yeah, i have entire echinata colonies with 30-40 heads that are barely bigger than 1 head on whatever these are!

I really like the coloration on yours. You've got much more oramge than i do!
