Nikon help please !!!

So I went on a trip to Washington with my boys to visit my folks and my Dad gave me two Nikon cameras that he is having issues with.

One of them is a Nikon F5 with a Kodak Professional DCS 620 with a Nikon Nikkor 20-35mm lens.

The other is a Nikon N90S with a Kodak DCS 420 with a Nikon AF Nikkor 80-200mm lens.

So my questions are these....

It's got two spare batteries but the charger doesn't seem to be working....what should I look to pay for replacement batteries?

Can I get replacement manuals for these cameras?

Are these good cameras ? I'm not a Nikon man....I'm more into Canon !!!

oh yeah and to answer your other question - These are film cameras so I'm not 100% but seems like I've heard good things about the F5's auto focus speed.

If nothing else these old film cameras are still coveted by some people.

okay....I read the license plate on these cameras Drauka and they are full on digital systems without a doubt....! They weigh like 8 lbs each with all of the lens, and digital pack on them !

Dude...where'd you dig up those relics again?!? WOW! Kodak digital backs for film cameras. The F5 and N90S are Nikon film cameras....the F5 was the basis for Nikons "Dx" professional digital cameras (D1, D1h, D2, D2h, D2x, etc). The Kodak component is a special attachment that converted the film bodies to digital.

Those would be collector items if you like that kind of stuff (I sort of do). Cool find!

VR - they are like the Fugi S5 - they are built on the Nikon frame but these have Kodac digital stuff. i too though they were digital backs untill i did a search for DCS 620 fnd 420

pretty cool but that 420 was huge and was like 1.2mp

So these really cool 'looking' cameras are dinosaurs ?

drauka99 01/08/2008 08:31 AM

the one built on the F5 frame would be a good camera IMHO, the

N90s is older and alkot less resolution, but since i remember you like b/w pics so it would make an awesome camera for that and it would give you a nice film feel IMO

There's a 620 on ebay and the starting bid is 350
