Gen-X on Top Fathom TF100 - HELP!
 

I took the MAG3 and Venturi combo off the skimmer and switched it out with a Gen-X 1500NX.
The bubbles this thing puts out are amazingly small and numerous.
The Cone below the collection cup used to have foam in the top 1/3, and produced this...

It is now 90% foam, yet no skimate.

Does the pump have to "Break in"? I plan to mesh mod it after I see how it does without the Enkamat.

How would you mod this skimmer?

I think the mess mod with the needle wheel pump would be a pretty good mod for the skimmer. Give it some time and see what happens, you might have to raise the water level and see if that gives you skimmate.

Other the than the needlewheel upgrade the pump to much higher pressure pump to work with the venturi and then the skimmer will work pretty well. I had a TF500 that I ran with a LG 5 series pump and it actually worked very well, only down side is that it took to much electricity to run (like most venturi/downdraft/becket skimmers)
