Flasher Wrasse
 

Anyone have pics of theirs? I am thinking of getting one for my 40 gallon reef. Also, would a firefish be compatible with it? I know the wrasse is very timid.

I am curious about this as well. I've read that they are best kept in groups. How many could fit in a 40 gallon reef? A male and female perhaps? A male and two females if it's a small species?

i kept this one in a 55g tank and although it was a little shy at first after a few weeks it spent most of the day out and about. pretty good eater too- meaning it was able to get its share among some other fast swimmers in the tank, and it ate whatever i fed the tank (flake, cubes etc).
i'd be very surprised if there was a problem with it and a firefish, in fact, i'd think they'd make good tankmates.

did you keep him with female flashers? I heard they are supposed to be together, but I guess if it has other fish?

Okay. another question. I think the answer is no, but would a royal gramma work with the flasher?

i had that one by itself- there were other fish in the tank but no other wrasses.
as far as royal grammas go- they find a little niche [cave] for themselves and generally stay there. unless the wrasse tries to make the grammas cave it's home (highly unlikely) there would be little or no interaction. the gramma will defend it's territory, but unless provoked it should leave the wrasse alone.
however, since the gramma is the more aggressive fish it'd be best to add the wrasse first to give it time to get comfortable.
Scott Michaels says the wrasse should be fed 3 times a day.

thats a great looking flasher. :) What other fish did you have?

umm- that's going back a while but i think i had a coral beauty, pair of gs maroon clowns and lawnmower blenny. shrimps too- cleaners and fireshrimp.
