Glue to attach coral to live rock
I have a new leather -- definitely more than a frag. It came on a decent chunk of rock a few inches across. It's currently wedged in a crack between two pieces of my base rock. It seems happy so I want to make this arrangement permanent. I have some two-part epoxy putty that I got from the LFS. Is this stuff reef-safe? I've heard conflicting reports.
Thanks, Dan |
I use two little fishies Epoxy Putty and never had a problem

you should be fine from what I read

The coral is attached and appears happy!

Keep an eye on it. I've used glue/expoy on several leather coral frags that seem to attach only to find them floating around the tank hours later.

SUPER GLUE GEL IS WHAT I USE

I attached rock-to-rock with a "big wad" of epoxy putty. The leather is definitely not a "frag" but a "small tree". It was on a big chunk of rock that I secured to my base rock.
From what I can gather super glue gel is the "preferred" method of securing live coral to rock. Thanks all, Dan |
