New and bored.

Hey all.. I've been toying with this idea for a while. Its winter time and I need a project. I wanted to try my hand at breeding fish (on purpose). I have a 9 foot section of my family room that I can install some tanks. Behind that wall is my sump room for my reef tank upstairs. My initial idea is to set up 8 tanks, LFS style. 2 rows of 24" tanks to each house a pair of something. I seem to like the idea of clowns but I dont want to be limited by the size of the tanks.

What is a minimum/normal size tank for a clown pair to spawn in. I always read people posting their clown eggs in their obsurdly small tanks. I ordered the book "clownfishes" on someones suggestion.

I already have a couple of 2 gal tanks in the works for plankton and rotifier reproduction.

Suggestions to get me started?

if you want to breed clowns your gonna need way more than two gallons of rots. and I'd get instant algae instead of growing phyto. unless cost is an issue.. much easier. our biggest nest so far was 667 babies out of 1 occelaris nest... have 10 gallons of rots running (2x5 gal tanks) and was hard pressed.

and my pairs are in 20 gallon tanks, but have heard of 10 gal and smaller used. 20's just fit my stand better.

So the love pad is about 20 gallons. What a good size for the nursery?

grow-out is in 10 gallon tanks... they get thinned out to about 200 per 10 gal tank as they are growing... 600 in a 10 gallon tank is pretty crowded... makes cool pictures though.
