What size would you recomend for a 30-40gallon reef?
2 model 2 or 1 model 3 but it really depends on what corals you are keeping.

Ill have my seio controller this week sometime, and i plan on using it on my 2-Koralia 4's.I dont see why it would not work, the controller will work fine on seio's and on MJ mods.

Catharsis70

Can you describe how you hooked yours up to a dimmer? Can you possibly show photos? You can run these on the SEIO wavemaker as it only turns the pumps down and then back up. You can't run them on one that shuts em off and on.....

Thanks
Spankey.

Thales 01/29/2007 07:58 PM

Maybe I missed it, but is there any documentation from Hydor that says not to run them with an on off wavemaker?

spankey 01/29/2007 08:14 PM

If you surf the original hydro thread that is over 18 pages long someone emailed hydor and they replied that you CAN use them on the seio wavemakers. They can NOT be ran on an on and off maker..

Hope that helps...

wish they were smaller

apayne 01/29/2007 11:18 PM

Does any one know of a way to make them anemone safe? They look great but I don't want my nems becoming sushi!!!

Thanks,
Aaron

edwing206 01/29/2007 11:34 PM

do they put out a lot of flow?

You could put a gutterguard cylender around the whole body or put 2 layers to disperse suction of the pump even more.

jacmyoung 01/30/2007 04:36 PM

Looks like the only drawback is the size. Even the nanostream is too big for my taste but at least stick it at the corner wasn't too bad looking.

Will the suction cup pretty much make it impossible to slide the pump around the tank by moving the outside magnet? If so can the suction cup be removed?

The suction cup can be removed on both magnets. I wouldn't suggest it though on tanks with glass thickness greater than 1/2". The suction cup just gives you that extra security in holding the pump up.

Peace,
John

But, even the nanostreams are hard to move around without actually getting in the tank and moving them around because of those tiny rubber feet on the magnet mounts.

John

Come on guys... this is getting ridiculous... read the title of the thread. For general "what is a koralia" chatter please post in the regular hydor koralia thread - this one is for modifications to the koralia.

N-A-S-O 01/30/2007 08:00 PM

YES!!!!!!! can we please stick to modifications on this thread

jacmyoung 01/30/2007 08:18 PM

Unfortunately after a thread is split, it is difficult to do a search on it anymore because the old thread is usually, well old so it does not show up on the search list. How about a link to that big thread?

Can't the RC mods fix that search issue?

The thread hasn't split.

When a thread splits there is always a link to the new thread at the end of the old.

Does anyone that has modded the Koralia have a ruff estimate on what kind of flow they are getting?

kroe 01/30/2007 11:55 PM

About 2500 GPH with a MJ 1200 magnet and an Octura 1440. This estimate is based on the commonly accepted estimate of what a modded MJ 1200 with that prop does, and comparing it directly with the modded 1200. It puts out the same if not a bit more than the MJ (more maybe due to the more porous shroud).

http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=9118137#post9118137
VERY COOL MAGNETS! (srry for the off topic post , but these are some cool magnets!)

smjtkj 02/01/2007 12:37 AM

Kroe, thanks for the idea! I modded 3 of the koraila 4s tonight. I used the stinger 1.5 inch props on mj 900 impeller magnets. I did the rigid tube into the magnet mod. All I can say is WOW! These pumps are outperforming Tunze and Reun by appearance of the water movement. I directed them to exactly the same direction as tunzes and they blew up detritus into the water column. I didn't think I had detritus...And the pumps start in the right direction most of the time. Worlds most awesome 5 minute mod!

Mike
