I'm actually ashamed that I didn't. I tried to introduce myself to as many people as possible.

NH reefer- did you get a chunk of the Redmond system's corals?

FishinKY, my pleasure. You guys were a real hit. Dawn and I are in the same reef club (I'm a proud member of the Maine club as well as the Boston reefers). I was the guy that wanted to touch the stainless steel fragging tools that were donated by Premium Aquatics.

I believe I did. I picked up several types/colors of acros, waited for that turcoise stag, but missed it, and a wicked cool deep purple coral that they could not give me a species name on. It is a cross between a birds nest and acro. Very thin branches, very smooth looking. Really cool. I think I got 12 corals altogether. All from that same tank. It was by far the best I saw there.
Did I mention the wife is ticked.....

Ewan 09/13/2004 07:32 PM

:D

Good score. The teardrop clams in that tank were gorgeous. I was only down for saturday, so I missed the action at the end where everyone was unloading all their stuff.

At least you didn't bring the tank home. Did someone grab that up?

FishyinKY 09/13/2004 08:11 PM

I remember you Ewan!!!! and thanks!!!

I believe you are talking about the fire coral...it was a gorgeous piece. I believe Kip bought it.

Ewan 09/13/2004 08:30 PM

hwynboy, are you the guy I kept trying to buy stuff from, and you kept saying "we're giving it away tomorrow"?

I think I made you say that about 3 times. lol

FishinKY... I always leave a strange impression. I noticed you had a bottle of Captain Morgan on the top shelf of the DT's fridge. Dawn gave me a free sample of coors light too. Like I said, very cool exhibit. :D

nice !!!

hwynboy 09/15/2004 02:11 PM

First of all congrats on the new tank subdeep. But what I dont understand is why does AGA give those tanks away at a conference like ours that way? If I remember correctly there are 3 yellow tangs...an orange shoulder tang (adult size 5-6 inches) and like 40 juvenile ocellaris, 6 juvi maroon clown, a scotts fairy wrasse, a flame angel, a long nose hawk, and a myriad of other fish all in a 120 that is jammed with LR. IMO that is not what we should be promoting in this hobby. That tank is WAY overloaded. Why portray that image to others that is a great tank, one that should be raffled off? At IMAC there was the same thing but with less tangs in it,..but same message? Someone correct me here if I am off base.

Why AGA?

subdeep 09/15/2004 03:55 PM

There's nothing like the image of a tank teeming with life. Thus the stocking levels. Personally, I thought there were too many fish in there. I gave at least 20 Clowns away before I left conference. I still have over 20. I plan on letting other BRS members adopt them. Unfortunately, the wrasse did not make the trip to my house. Beautiful fish:(

I plan on continuing to reduce the bioload to support its future reef environment.

Scuba_Dave 09/15/2004 04:01 PM

Yes, most vendors like to load up on the fish for the show. One lady was admiring the tank (non-reefer) and was surpised when I said all the clowns had to go. She said, "why, they don't get any bigger?"

Actually I had been referring to some of my friends....but...;)

I told her they would get bigger & fight eventually. Altho a fellow reefer does have 5 in his tank that seem to be doing OK

Thanx again for the clowns. Very nice catch on that tank
I was hoping for the curved front 90g

I keep forgetting which of these threads I've already thanked you on:lol:

subdeep 09/15/2004 04:11 PM

I think all of them:p

Your welcome.

hwynboy 09/15/2004 05:51 PM

that fairy wrasse was bouncing around the tank and swimming sideways since Friday...it did not surprise me he didnt make it. Sad, but definitely not your doing. He was ill long before that. Poor guy.

ClownsRule 09/15/2004 06:50 PM

you all seem to know a lot about reefs so here is my question how many lbs of live rock should i have for a 65 gallon tank and also how can i get the great colored algae to grow in my tank i use esv b-ionc alk and calc and i use reef solutions and i was getting nice color in the first 2 months i had the tank set up now nothing whats going on any suggestions. I have 135w of light but i am upgrading to 386w very soon with lunar lights too.
