I don't use a Ca reactor. I use the Balling method.

tanya72806 12/19/2007 10:03 AM

what is that ?

jnarowe 12/19/2007 12:08 PM

you neuter the fish and feed the leavings to the tank Tanya!

Dudester 12/19/2007 12:12 PM

"Balling method" is adding two-part solution (or 3-part), like alkalinity and calcium (and Mg). Or were you just kidding, Tanya?

tanya72806 12/19/2007 05:25 PM

lol no I didnt know that it has a name. I just state that i use 2-part lol Thank you ;)

hahnmeister 12/19/2007 10:20 PM

Iwan, is there a name for the type of reef ceramics you have where the powerhead is held in the top 'box'? Was that something custom, or is there a special name for it? Im thinking about getting something like that for my tank.

Its a ceramic from "Korallenwelt". The base looks like this:

I ordred it from this page: Mrutzek

hahnmeister 12/20/2007 01:47 PM

So they just call it a 'stream rock'... and did you bond it to the other pillars then, or did they do that for you?

No, I did it that's not a big thing. Reef Bond works pretty good for that :)

reefsahoy 12/20/2007 06:00 PM

iwan, you use to have the korallin ca reactor on the other tank, how did you like the brand, which model did you have, and did it keep up with the ca demand?
thanks

I have a question for you about your bulbs, do you run them in 1:1 order?
As in:
Aquablue Special
Blue Plus
Aquablue Special
Blue Plus
etc...

keeps getting better every day! :)

jnarowe 01/11/2008 02:45 PM

Are there any other tanks like this?

Zedar 01/11/2008 02:49 PM

There are. Not many. But there are.

Its a work of art.

FunkieReefJunkie 01/11/2008 03:04 PM

Amazed as usual Iwan. Do you ever take on brownouts and watch them color up in your system? Or are you really particular about what you put in?

iwan 01/11/2008 03:10 PM

I have bought some brown corals. Most got colored after 10-30 days.

Elliott 01/11/2008 08:37 PM

beautiful, I went to medical school in Switzerland, I know how compulsive and exacting things are done there, no surprise to see a reef tank so immaculate, very nice

Thank you. Your color looks spot on so I may just change out my KZ bulbs for some ATI.
Beautiful pictures, as usual! Thanks for being such an inspiration :D

Iwan, why aren't your original build pictures loading? All I see are red X's. Hopefully it's temporary. :(

He's either moved or removed them from where they were hosted. Once that happens he'd have to put them back in a new post.
