Looks good for only being in the tank for what, a few minutes?
And what do you mean, mine? Did it come from someone I sold it too, or something like that? Or does it just look that same as my red and green? Very nice piece either way. |
Yeah, its very healthy. I dropped it in about 5 minutes before the photos =).
Yes, you did sell it to them hehe. |

Nice colony Chris Kelly |

Frag Using Drill Method
OK, i over reacted. after the slimed cleared up... it's not that bad. but it still broke the polyps around it on the main colony... so i remain firm on not reccomending you use a drill.

Nice looking frag bro. Looks like it turned out healthy.
|
luckily for you huh... toss me an E-mail. how are those other corals doin?
I've never seen Blastomussa wellsi grow at all. Maybe split a polyp in half, but never grow larger. At least in my experience. This is one of the reasons I don't keep these corals any more.
My Blastos not only have gotten larger in size(individual polyps), but they have also had babies. I have 3-4 new polyps coming from the base of one of green blastos right now... |

Yes, I've seen blasto's gain new polyps, and have larger polyps split into smaller polyps. But I've never seen any mass gained IME. If you have a 4'' blasto wellsi, it will be the same 4'' two years later, but maybe with a few more polyps. Though most of the time, something falls on it, or it gets stung, and there are less polyps alive after two years. Although, I have seen half dead blastos fill in the skeleton that was already there. Just no new skeleton growth. I have yet to have seen it myself. That's not saying it doesn't happen. I just haven't witnessed it, or seen a "Look at the growth of my B.wellsi in 1 year pic's" So Joe, take some pic's of your blasto, and log them. And take a few every month of so to document it. That would be proof enough for me.;) |
sounds good. I would like to see growth pics too!

i have clove polyps that have grown about 3-4 new polyps in half a year. :D

that is very nice. What is that, a tube od a tube worm in the colony? Does it have more orange or yellow stripes?

Very nice score Chris. IMO, it may not be acan lord. It could be a micromusa but equally rare/beautiful as acan lord. Loved the contrasting color.

John
Funny bro, I was just telling my gf the same thing. He told me the size of the rock, and thats a lot of heads for that size. That would be fine, I think I like them even more then lords since they are even more rare =). |
Randy...Will do. That would be a cool post.

You know that I am glad both your GF and my wife are into this stuff too or else we both would be hearing from them every day about the acan hunt that we have been on lately...:) John |
