Cut all 4 frags just now... they are all at least 3/4" like I said. One will be a nice frag! I cut the tip off the tallest piece, and it's brancing out pretty well!

ryan, you can get just a orp controller for $100. also for ozone you have to run all water coming out of the ozone reacter through carbon, you also have to run all air through carbon too. i think asm's are ozone safe so you can just run it into your skimmer.

Thanks sone :) i will get some more pics soon, should have plumbing done today. Plumbing isnt ending up exactly how i want it but it should work fine. How long you think i should let plumbing sit before wet testing it? I think last time i did it after 24hrs or something.
I was debating on keeping the uv or selling it but right now i could use the money on other things, i do have a 16watt aqua uv, do you think that would be enough just to polish the water? i know it wont kill parasites of course. or would it be a waste.

Heck no! Sometimes I wait just a few minutes before using it! :D I can't say that I've had any issues from doing so. I think you're safe, the heck with waiting 24 hours....that's too much waiting!

Since you're setting up a 150, I'd keep the 40W UV around. Then you have the flexibility to use it to polish the water or use it for its original intent. Sell the 16W UV. Granted you won't get as much money out of it but I think you'll thank yourself in the end for keeping the bigger one. It's your choice, do what you feel is best. I just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth. :)

What's your purpose of using ozone? Is it for clear clarity? Personally I find both ozone and uv usage to be optional. I use UV for water clarity and help kill bacteria and such so my fishes will have a nice environment to live in.

I don't like the idea of having to recharge the dryers and that you could overdose your tank with using ozone. You would also have to monitor and control the orp, just more probes and added maintenance. I like to keep things pretty simple. It might work out for you but it didn't fit into my husbandry techniques and maintenance plan.

only reason i got it was cause first the person was giving it to me for 15 with some other stuff i got and then he lost the power cord and ended up just giving me the ozone. So all i need is a powercord and it will work. i would need a orp controller though. I was getting it so i could test it out and see how clear the water gets, ive read many things of people that have a tank setup and there water is pretty clear then they add ozone and its even more clear.

The dryers you just put the beads in the oven right? i wonder how often they will need recharged. I will prob give the ozone a try and i can always sell it to get more then my money back since i got it for free :)

I'm using the UV as a water clarifier right now. I do turn down the flow on it to kill bacteria when I get new fish. I don't have a qt setup so I try to do what I can to minimize any problems from arising.

sone the return is a used quiet one 9000 2300gph or so. I dont have it mounted down 100% but it still shouldnt be this loud. It sounds almost like when a diaphram air pump goes bad. any idea? im thinking maybe impeller or something.

there is only one overflow, since ive got only one drain from tank..it will run through the shelf for carbon then down to skimmer section....then through return section to refug.....there will be an outlet to the refuge, teed from drain

You bought it used right? If you haven't already, you might want to take it apart and go over everything again. Maybe the impellar wasn't seated right or the shroud didn't tighten down correctly. Also try soaking the pump in vinegar for a day or so if it hasn't been done.

so check out my saltwater sand storm :lol:

finally got it filled and sg is almost up to where i want it. and of course i have i nice southdown sand storm! Skimmers rigged with a rubberband to hold the pipe up higher since i broke the oring for it they give you. Doesnt matter much since im adding a gate valve as soon as i can order it. also ive been trying to fix my main pump so a maxijet1200 is pushing water to the display lol. It moves more then i thought it would. Its not anything near ideal but its all i have to work with till i fix the pump or replace it :D some of the plumbing is off in the pics cause the pump isnt there to hold it in place but you can get the idea i hope. enjoy :smokin:

So, you know how I have all that light over my 20 gal reef??? Well, at night, it kind of looks like we are growing weed when they are all on, and a space ship is landing when the actinics are on :lol: So, the wife bought a BLACK curtain to put up in the fishroom!! Good for me, b/c now I can take pictures during the daylight w/o a glare from the window! And, I had to put the thing up b/c she bought it for me... what a present eh?
