There is a thread on RC talking about mollies for algae control. I was just wondering if any of you local guys had tried or heard of this. I have a feeling that like everything in this hobby, it can be hit or miss. Any other drawbacks to putting mollies in a reef?

Hi it is correct in saying mollies do eat algae in reef aquariums, because my local marine shop has them doing this.

okay I really miss the search button. I guess there are other places to search for stuff on the internet, but then I wouldn't get your smart answers for my stupid questions. I was wondering if ick was ick, or is salt water ick differenct from fresh water...If i got mollies from a store and they had ick in fresh water, will that transfer to the salt tank, or should I quarintine them anyway?

No...it wont transfer , a saltwater parasite cannot live in fresh water and visa versa....thus when we have saltwater ich, some folks do fresh water dips or baths.
