Let's say that you left for a few (4) of days and the timer failed on your lighting. Your wife never noticed that only your actinics were on and never the day lights. Your shrooms and xenia have perked back up, but your kenya still looks poor. Everything looked great for months before this happened. What happens to higher light needing items when something like this happens? The kenya tree looks a little better, two weeks later, but still doesn't look like it used to. Any comments?

4 days won't hurt. Imagine during storms where the sun doesn't really shine for days in the wild. It will perc back up if it was only 4 days and your water params are good.

Stuff gets shipped for 4 days with 0 light and it survives.

I would agree. It may be unhappy but will come back. Sometimes after a situation like that happens and then you hit them with main lights it is like coming out of the movie theater on a brights sunny day, stuns you for a minute. It will be fine just be paitient. Get some digital timers or a RK2 and you will not have the problem anymore.
