November GRMAS Meeting Minutes

·Next Meeting: Monday December 6 from 7pm-9pm at the Family Fare Community Room.

·Meeting Discussion: Members presented their DIY projects, some amazing items, thanks for sharing!!

·Treasurer Report: Please go to grmas.org member's only area to view this information

·Website Update: Rob has posted meeting minutes under the member’s only section. Rob has also removed the For Sale section as it has not been used. Rob is still working in a vertical banner for Reef Nutrition. Club members discussed rec to switch to horizontal banners for the site as few companies use vertical banners.

·Nonprofit status: Spoke with MMMC and MASM members about how to go about becoming non-profit, have discussed do not need to file 501C until we grow considerably more financially. Also discussed prior to filing for 501C will need to become incorporated. Need to look into setting up bylaws and operational documents for club prior to incorporation.

·Swap update: We currently have approx 15 sponsors for the event and several others that are interested by have not committed 100% yet. We will have limited amounts of saltwater on hand if needed for vendors to display corals if necessary. We plan to use the service entrance to have vendors come to set-up initially, will allow early entrance for those who have purchased tables to set-up at 10am. The use of the service entrance will limit use of main entrance and allow us to keep general public out of room until the swap officially starts. Randy Reed of Reef Nutrition has offered to speak at the swap if we would like. He would give a presentation about the nutritional requirements of a reef. We discussed the best time to have Randy speak (during swap, before swap or at end of swap). We have tabled vote on having Randy speak until the next meeting.

·VIPets proposal: VIPets will be sponsoring the swap, and have also shown interest in sponsorship of the club long term. They have offered to build a new website for the club, random gifts to raffle off, discounts, etc. Scott Yonkers and Brian Vu will continue to negotiate their offer.

·MASM Offer/ Proposal: MASM has offered to create a forum for the GRMAS on their website for use by club members, officers and general public, if we agree to using this site they will give us 10% of their annual donations from the website sponsors. Club members voted to pursue this. MASM has also recommended we join MASNA as a club, if we do this they will pay for our first year of membership. The MASNA is a national organization for the hobby that helps clubs to get in contact with speakers, and puts together the MACNA conference each year. Club members voted to pursue membership to MASNA.
