Ken,
Back in April you offered your home as the site of the July Meeting. See Meeting Post (http://archive.reefcentral.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76985)

Do you have a date and time for the meeting yet?

Sorry, folks! Kim & I were away for 10 days, then running around locally since last Monday tying up business, etc.

OK, here's the deal: give me some feedback on the weekend of the 20/21 with a preferred date. If it's too close to call, I will double check with my wife, Kim, and we could probably push it off until the 27/28.

As far as plans for the meeting: I will be making a bunch of ribs and will supply soft drinks and a few adult beverages, if anyone wants. We have 2 grills, so feel free to bring anything you'd like to cook, and or salads, dips etc.

If the weather is cooperative, we will have no problem with space. If we are forced indoors, I can easily accomodate 20-30 people with no problems, aside from the typical chair shortage. Even then, my folks live nearby, and have a bunch.

Now, for the iportant deciding factor for all of you: We live just over the NY border in Rockland County, NY. We are literally 4 turns off of exit 172 on the Garden State Parkway. Here's a link to Mapquest to our address @ 12 Lomond Avenue, Chestnut Ridge, NY 10977 (if the link fails):

well, for the first time since I first came to the meetings, I'm gonna have to miss this one:(

We're in the process of moving in July, and renovating the new place, so it's just too much to include a reef meeting 2.5 hrs away.

Sorry all,

-John

I think I can make it. Are we gonna hit a LFS to buy them out :)

I am going to try and make it. I could use the day off to relax a little :D Weekend of the 20/21 sounds good, but 27/28 isn't taken yet either.

Well, we are totally flexible for both weekends, so let's hear from some more members out there!

There are really only two LFS close by: the frist is Pets Place II, and after about 15 months, still have not put up their new marine tanks, so that's obviously out.

The other is Beital's Aquariums in Pearl River, NY. They have a TON of coral, but some folks have mixed feelings about the place. Prices really flucuate, and it really has a wholesaler feel to the place. Mostly LPS and softies, but some nice SPS mixed in there. He carries a lot of exotic inverts and nudis.

For those who have been to Ab Fish in Clifton: it's very easy to swing there on the way home, as it is only a mile or so off of the GSP southbound.

20/21 is better. I am picking my son up in TX the next weekend.

I have a family reunion on 20/21 so 27/28 is best for me.

What better way to show your family how you really live than to bring them to a reef meeting? :)

The WIFE and I will be in, either weekend. She may have an issue depending on date choice, but I am DEFINATELY in on this one, it's been far too long....

It's also close for me, I should have some frags as well by this time, but alas, none of the famed BLUE BUTTON POLYPS :) Need a few more months to prop them as I just got a dozen myself......

Hey Robert, if ya want, you can stop by my place on your way back down south, it's actually not that far out of the way, and could be on the way if we're creative with directions.

27/28 for me.
Nagel ; I still have your bulb! If I recall corectly I added about 15 hours to it.
Kennerd ; Beital's sounds very interesting with the exotic inverts & nudies. I'd be willing to do a side trip.
Boris.

Yeah, the last time I was in there, he must have had 10-20 different types of nudis & cukes, hermits of every color imaginable, all types of shrimp, stars, urchins, etc. Worth stopping in for sure, and only a few minutes from my place, and open Sundays, too.

Brian, Atlantis, told me about this place when I visited his absolutely amazing tanks on Tuesday night. I'm just learning so I don't have much to share, but I wouldn't mind picking your brains. :p

If ya'll would have me, I'm available either weekend.

Because of space and mobility reasons (apt living), I've got a nano to get my feet wet. But, I'm planning out my large tank for when I purchase a house next year.

Hey Barry, are you just getting started? If so, I will put together a softie selection for you.

Gail, I am just starting out. My tank is a 7 gal mini-bow and it is only 3 weeks old. I'm not too sure that it will be ready for corals by the get together. I sincerely appreciate the offer, and if it still stands, I will definitely take advantage of it when my tank is a little more mature.

Barry: you are more than welcome, and just for your entertainment: I only have nano tanks. Pick my brain all day if you like. I may even have some equipment lying around for you.

OK, folks, given the time horizon, I will be picking a day by Sunday, so make sure we hear from everyone else! Sin ce no one has made any real issue iof day of the week, it will definitely be one of the Sunday, probably 12:30 unless you have netter time suggestions.

So, what date has been chosen? Want to know if I should frag tomorrow for the meeting on the 20/21 or if I have to wait until the next month

kennerd

OK, it seems the poll came out with just a slight favor for the weekend of July 27/28. I will start a new thread with all of the details tomorrow. Besides, it will give everyone a little more time to figure out frags, trades, etc.

I figured I'd post here about the new thread, so everyone would get an email notification:

JULY MEETING: final details (http://archive.reefcentral.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?threadid=100815)

kennerd

OK, haven't heard back from anyone else regarding guests, so the attendance list for tomorrow stands as:

Rovert
Spykey
jimroth
miketrav
nagel (+1)
borecki
fazm79
radiata
Scott Greenspan
Me & my wife Kimberly
Possibly a local friend switching from ciclids to FO or reef

Given the number of people, we have enough chairs, so no one needs to bring any with them. Plenty of room indoors, if the weather is less than cooperative. No problem bringing extra folks/guests, just give a holler on your way out the door tomorrow.

I have 6 racks of baby backs going on the grill @ 9:00AM, and will have slaw, mixed green salad, chips, salsa.

See you tomorrow!

Ken
