I have a 55 sitting in my fish room that is starting to bug me. Gave away the stand years ago because it was a POS. Now i need a stand in order to set it up as a second refugium. (All this talk about baffles is giving me the bug) So, if anyone has an extra that will fit in a '96 Neon, i'd really appreciate it.

I could help you build one fairly inexpensively....

I may just go the 2x4 route (lord knows i've got enough scrap laying around), but was just seeing if anyone had some clutter to get rid of. Thanks for the offer, though, Medic.

I saw a stand recently in one of the threads which showed using some 3/4 plywood and 1inch cast iron pipe in the 4 corners. Plywood on top and bottom. It was pretty basic, but functional and didn't look too bad.

If you actually build a stand for a 55gal, could I get in on this as well? I purchased a 55gal w/ stand from another member and realized that the stand isnt going to fit my needs. My main problem is lack of powertools and a shop to use them in.

Have you built stands before? I dont have any designs as of yet and want to make sure its 100% stable.

Do you have any diagrams or pics w/ dimensions so I can figure out how much wood and stuff to buy?

Well, you would need to figure out the dimensions you want your stand to be. Do you want the tank to sit completely on top of the stand? Are you going to have a sump under the tank? How much room under the tank do you want/need?

Basic dimensions of the stand would be a minimum of the footprint of the bottom of your tank. Then you would make a rectangle from there. But, you can make the stand however you want; as big as you want.

I can tank pics of my last two stands if you want.
