My Yellow Watchman Goby hadn't shown himself for feedings the last couple of days. I didn't think anything about it, as he's been in and out of hiding for the last two weeks after being introduced to the tank. I did think it odd, as he had been regularly out and begging for food for three days.

Today, I saw something unusual on the carpet. I picked it up and it was my YMG. Apparantly, he decided to carpet surf a day or more ago, as he's pretty desiccated. My first fish, my first casualty. I hope this isn't an omen.

Peace

I've never had one of the breed jump, but until they settle, there's clearly a danger. you might try eggcrating the top when you have a new fish: once they have a burrow to run to, they're less likely to panic and jump. Some fish will also ride upwellings of current a bit too far. If you have any such, protect that area.

Worse still

My gramma, in quarantine had been really sedate. I found him tonight, not moving, and allowing the current to take him where he would. I fear he's not long for this world. Not sure if what I found on his side is a wound or a lesion, but he's probably not going to make it through the night. My green clown goby seems healthy, however.

At least he was in QT and not in the display.

I had a diamond goby jump out after he had been in the tank for a couple of weeks.

Yes, ChemE, there was that blessing. My other quarantined fish appears to be fine for now as well. Likewise, I got the gramma a couple of days ago, so the warranty was still in effect. I'm not out money or problems in the display. It's just a tough second hit for the day.

All this and I'm worried about my monti caps. DKH is reasonably stable at 12 or over. UGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My gramma enjoys riding the flow in my tank. Maybe yours isn't on its way out...

Unfortunately trendle, he wasn't riding in the flow. He was sinking belly up to the bottom. When I fished him out of the QT, with the net, the last time, he wasn't breating or moving. Not sure what was wrong, but at least my green clown goby was still quite active with no sign or problems.

What do you have as far as a cover goes on the tank?

Nada. I'm open top, at least for now. I'm thinking screen door screen or eggcrate, before my green clown goby hits the display.
