This is a copy of an email respsonse I got from Frank Marini re treating popeye, fyi.

Ken:
you might want to post this to the disease, breeding section at
http://www.reefcentral.com this way bill and hcs might have a go at it, and
more practical experience. Yes I have used erythomycin effectively on
popeye. I also have found that other strong gram meg antibiotics are
effective, such as Kanamycin (spectragram). but try maracyn is more
commonly used.
start treating ASAP, treatment last for at least 5 days

Hi Kengar,

Erythomycin is not very effective at the high pH of a marine aquarium so I would go with Maracyn II, Kanamycin, or nitrofuran. I have used all three of those (depending on availability) with great sucess. As Frank mentions, start treating ASAP and for at least 5 days.

Frank,
Your right, I was thinking of Maracyn II which is minicycline, a tetracycline derivative. Thanks for catching that ;)
