View Full Version : anyone interested in a 46 bowfront?

i believe it's a perfecto, standard 46 bowfront design. i have a black stand for it, but it's honestly seen better days cosmetically. if you want it, you can have it, or i can just toss it.

i used it as a reef for several years, then recently set it up as a freshwater tank. it's got natural color small gravel in it and if you want a hob filter(s) we can talk about those, too. glass top included, although i don't have the little handle thing and the hinge is broken.

i can post pics of it tomorrow from when it was a reef.

tank is non-drilled. we successfully drilled the back of a 46 bow for a friend, so it can be done. i do have a hob u-tube overflow box w/ 1" bulkhead if you are interested in that, too.

taking offers.

fake silk plants, yes. sorry, no driftwood. i have some lace rock, but it was used in saltwater and has dried up tubeworms on it...

My son might be interested; don't pitch it; I might be able to find a use for it. Let me know.

How much do you want for the overflow box? Do you have any pics or know what kind it is?

this is the back side of the overflow box...taken when it was new...

it really depends on who wants what and in what order they've said they want it. i'm unclear as to whether or not medic wants the overflow at this point. not really sure what i'd take. the inside piece is dark charcoal and has quite a bit of dried coralline on it...could easily come off. you'll see it in the pics i'll upload tomorrow when it was running.

i'd also consider selling a sump to complete the package, but i'm not sure i want to tear it down just yet as i'm using it on my 29 until the 200 is up and going...probably a month or more out on that.

Benny I sent a PM to you a few hours ago...did you receive it?

You have a sump to go with the overflow? What size is that? I might be interested in both of them depending on size. I am in no hurry for the sump so waiting a month or more is fine.

i have two sumps, a 10g and a 20g, both diy baffled. the 10g will fit in the stand for the 46g. the 20 i wasn't quite sure i wanted to sell because i may end up drilling and re-baffling it to use as a fuge for my big system, but go ahead if you want it. i'm using the 10g on my 29. both will fit a super skimmer 65 in-sump. the 20 has another chamber for marco, the 10 does not...unless you stuff it in the intake side chamber.

I am going to put the sump on a 55gal eventually so I would prefer the 20gal if its available. Do you have the dimensions for the 20G tank? If you arent interested in selling it, could I copy down the design so I can make my own sump then?

Benny Z

actually, here are pictures of both the 10g and the 20g sumps. ironically they are in reverse config as they are now...that being the 20 empty and the 10 in use.

So if the 20G fits in a 29G stand, then its about 30" long?

Benny Z
10/13/2006, 07:25 AM
yup. same exact base diminsions as a standard 29g. ...just shorter.

$238,987.42 takes everything.

thanks for looking!

here are some pics of the overflow and 20l.

i've decided to sell this as a package. $60 takes the 20l sump and the overflow, plus the "j"-tube return with siphon break holes and nozzle, a prefilter sponge to go over the overflow's down pipe, and a short hose to start the siphon through the "u"-tube.

i ran this overflow for a long time and lost power on multiple occasions and i never had a tank overflow. that said, there is always a risk with these things. i think the design makes this a pretty flawless overflow, though.

side pic of the overflow. note that it is "installed" on the tank backwards for photographs only! :D

and one last, top down.

http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/77080overflowfromtop.jpg

i would like $50 for the bowfront tank. stand is free if you want it.

if the same buyer is interested in everything to make a complete reef setup, i'll sell it all for $100. however, you'll need the 10g sump if you want to use the stand i have because the 20 won't fit in it.

has this been sold yet?

Vitaly

Benny I am still interested in buying the overflow box as stated in the the PM I sent. Again, I would also be willing to buy the overflow and sump/fuge as a package if the 20g fits into my stand. Please send the dimensions at your convenience.

Thanks...

yes, everything is still for sale.

the dimensions of the 20long are the standard size - 30x12x12.

let me know... thanks for looking!

are you interested in selling the overflow box by itself?

Benny Z
10/17/2006, 09:24 PM
not yet...i'd really like to see everything go together as a complete package. i'll give it another week to sell, then i'll sell the overflow separately. however, vitaly is in line ahead of you for just the overflow if he is still interested. sorry.

How bad is the 46 bowfront? Is it heavily scratched or what? Pics? I might be interested in the whole setup, but it would be a couple weeks most likely before I would have the cash.

there are some scratches at the substrate level from when i had crushed coral, but i think that's about it. it's not in bad shape, could juse use some cleaning. no rush for a complete sale...

I have the CPR CS30 Siphon overflow (I think, it is the 300gph one) you can have it for free (unless you want to give me money :D).

It will need a new bulkhead though and some cleaning.

I'll even toss in the aqualifter pump also, it does not work very well anymore though. I think it only needs to be cleaned out internally but I don't know how, or if it is even possible.

*WARNING*
These do have a bad rap.
With all the GHA I had in my 29 when I was running this I did have some close calls with the tank almost overflowing. the hole to hook up the aqualifter to would plug then air would get trapped and slow the flow down.
They are also really hard to clean out.

I don't remember ever having a tank overflow when I was running it but it did come close.

If you keep it cleaned out and don't have a lot of algea in the tank you should be ok though.

tank, stand, sump, and overflow are all gone.

i still have these silk plants and rock available, plus more rock that is not pictured, but similar.

$25 if anyone wants it all.
