What does it mean "nano" tank? or "nano" reef tank???

nano means small. . . .a nano reef tank is a tank under 20 gallons from what i gather. . . . . .
id say a nano would be around 10 gallons and under.

It's a play on scientific measurements. Reef tanks are often called micro-reefs. What's smaller than micro? Nano. Some of the really tiny reefs (less than 5 gallons) are referred to as pico-reefs.

I disagree with supergook10. I believe that tanks around 25-30g and under would be considered nano's.

some where around there.....20/25/30 about that size.
pico reef is a new one to me. i'll be happy to use it!

anything 20 g and under is a nano, but some stretch the rules by adding a refugium too, but we don't count that ;)
