Hello, I have this beautiful Sailfin tang and the other day I noticed this....white stuff on one of his fins. I don't know what it is. He is not acting strange or anything; he is not rubbing up against any rocks or anything and appears to be feeding fine. I am going to post some pics. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Again, if anyone has any ideas what that white stuff is and/or if I need to be worried about it. I don't remember it being on there when I got him.

Thanks in advance!!!

Rick

He may have a disease but if he continues to eat well he may fight it off. I have had fish rot entire fins off and grow them back and be perfectly healthy. Not much you can do at this point anyway

Add a little garlic to its food just in case it is ich. Couldn't hurt to play it safe.

Just another observation, it looks like there is a chunk taken off his tail, my clowns had white spots on their body like the one your's has when they would nip each other. Maybe it's not ich, maybe it's a bite mark? Just keep an eye on it.

An update....that thing that was on his fin....well, it must have fallen off because it is no longer there and he looks perfect; still acting normally and eating great. Maybe it was nothing; or maybe it was an area where he was nipped.?.
