Actually, it's an Asterina star.

Some have been said to eat certain coral but that is not my experience nor the experience of most who have them. The guess by the experts is that there are quite a few varieties of them and only certain varieties feed on coral.

I would recommend that you watch it and if it seems to do no harm ( like most ) then just enjoy it. It will reproduce readily by division.

Hmm, interesting. I saw one of those at night in my tank last week. I was wondering what kind it was...I haven't seen it since.

I typically remove them if I see them...

I have one that was given to me. They said it was a fromia.

I have several of them in my tank, they do a good job eating the "crap" in the tank. I have never seen them do anything wrong.

I usualy remove them also. I am not sure if they do bad things or not but they can reproduce quickly.

some of these are bad and eat acros and other SPS, but most aren't and it's to hard to tell so I'd pull it.
