I gather it is used for water movement but what is it exactly? A DIY project? Does anyone have a picture of one used for their nano?

Thanks,
Susie

Imagine this:

piece of PVC pipe, drilled at one inch intervals (or whatever size intervals), connected to a powerhead

That's a spray bar. They are used to distribute a powerhead's circulation throughout the tank in different directions than could be achieved by only the nozzle on the PH.

HTH.

Yes, that helps! Thanks.

Here's a pic from Playfair's nano reef that shows a spraybar attached to a Minijet pump.

Hi, another question. Is the end of the PVC capped or just left open?

Thanks

Capped - so the water is forced out of the holes along the side. Otherwise, all the water would just come out of the end.

Would you guyz recommend adding a spray bar or would you recommend just letting the powerhead do it's job!

Pretty much depends on your particular setup. Sometimes the spraybar can add good circulation that's more diffuse.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but wanted to make sure. I'm guessing that "c" pvc would be just the right size, too.

I just rigged up a pretty make-shift spray bar in my 4' 94 gal, and I'm really happy with the results!!
I took a Hagen 802 (just 'cause I had it lying around, hooked it up to a 32" 3/4"d vinyl tube, plugged the end, drilled 1/8" holes @ 1" intervals, wrapped it behinnnnd the rocks and let her rip...I also took the corner PHs off the wave maker, and I'VE GOT CURRENT!!
Now for the nano!!

PS I learned to make sure the drill stops spinning B4 I put it down on the dining table - had an interesting effect on the table cloth and everything above!
