Looking good LegoZ I really like the cannon sticking out of the rock ;) What's that green hairy stuff in all of your close up shot????? lol, I have it too so don't feel bad.

Ben, yours is coming along nicely as well. Any news on the big setup? Did you ever find out if it was leaking or just sweating?

As for my tank, this is all I have right now.

That pic is 6 moths old, it is the most current I had. The stuff in there is all 4x larger now and many shrooms have been "harvested" because of their hugeness.

wow dude, think you could fit any more softies in there??? lol

i don't think the 200g was ever actually leaking. at least, that's what i'm telling myself. if it was, it stopped and completely dried up. i'm guessing maybe some water spilled over and settled under the tank during the fills.

got a bunch of rock, just need new filters for my ro/di unit and a couple of buckets of salt.

http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/77080reaquascaped2.jpg

tank is empty again, though. i'm going to soak the rock in vinegar water to release any phosphates it may be holding, then begin a curing process once i've got pure water. i have the rock from my 29g and also another tank full of liverock from tmr to go in on top of the base rock.

This will be a good setup to watch through birthing into maturity. Glad you have the moisture issue figured out. What lighting are you going to have over it.

Benny Z
09/29/2006, 01:15 PM
right away i'm just going to migrate the single 250w halide and hang it over the center, plus i have two 6' vho super actinics to hang. i need to figure out a sliding rack system for maintenance since there is very little clearance over the tank before the ceiling.

eventually i'll get two more 250w halides to complete the light setup.

(the three short vhos in the pic were tempoary for pics only)

Yeah I kinda fingured that lol. You could add them into your lighting too though.

Now it looks kind of bad since I moved house but I finally removed all the coraline from it a few days ago. And it was getting bad.

My guess is the first tank was a bit too bright for the frogspawn. I had some frogspawn loose color like that under the T5s I used to have....They have bounced back a bit since moving it. It could also possibly be an issue of having more/less nutrients. The second picture looks better though IMO :P

Here is my new tank and also my first saltwater set up. Not much to it right now. My next investments: Lighting and Protein Skimmer. I will be the guy at the meeting bugging everyone about what I should buy.

THE NEW DIAMOND WATCHMAN GOBY from Marine Aquatics. This guy has helped my sand out a TON, I am going to be getting a second one soon, any suggestions on which type? My curren Goby has marked his territory on the right side and has yet to venture to the left. THe sand cleanliness shows his territory.

Out of curiosity, what lighting do you have on that tank right now?
Also, I've been looking for a pistol shrimp myself, have you found that one locally, or was it mail order?

Was there selection good? there list on there web site looked quite good. What were the prices like?

cioutlaw
10/15/2006, 09:27 PM
If I would have planned ahead I would have asked if someone wanted to ride along, but it was last minute thing.

Not a lot of SPS stuff, prices were average..high on some stuff & good on others. If you go make sure you go in back, there is a sign saying not to but they will let you if you ask..its all there prop tanks & just about everything is forsale, stuff isnt displayed well but there are lots & lots of corals.

Its worth going if you dont buy anything. Next time I go I will have to take pictures.

Ben

MY lighting right now if a very weak flourescent that I had laying around. I found out after I bought my tank that the guy wasn't going to give me his lighting (it was still a steal). I think I may go in to Premium Pet Supply and order a 72" Coralife with the built in lunars and 4x 96 watt lights. They said they can order it for 200 down and another 190 once they have it shipped. Is this a good deal? It sounded fairly cheap from what I have been looking at so far.

The pistol shrimp came with my live rock along with another crab and the whole cleanup crew. The guy I bought the tank from did a lot of his fish buying in Madison, WI. That would be quite a road trip :-)

pleaselaunchme
10/16/2006, 01:35 PM
Well, Marine Depot has it listed for $360, so $390 locally is not bad.

Ben

MattAranda
10/16/2006, 04:49 PM
Yea I had tried to finding a more competitive price online but they seem to be very reasonable on the price when factoring in shipping prices.

Enough hi-jacking of the thread here for me tho, let's see some more tanks!

Thanks. Lot of up and downs the last two years, hope the up's continue. Lost some nice stuff, starting to look better now.
Had him for about a year. Likes to bite me when my hand is in the tank.
My camera skills not too good either. Seems like you get a better pic with the flash for color, but then you have the flash reflection.
These were with no flash.
