Glad you approve, looks like I made a good choice for my very 1st SW tank!!! Thanks, yeah it does look really sharp. The brand I'm not sure about. For now it's whatever the fixture came with. I splurged and bought what I thought would be best for corals in the future, I would really like to keep SPS eventually but I am still learning. Anyone looking for a protege?

I am personally partial to the higher K bulbs, there is a trade off for the color though you loose a lot of PAR though with most bulbs. So something to consider if you have trouble keeping high light corals when the time comes to replace them.

I was using a 175w 20K XM over my 29g with no actenic supplementation and loved it.

So far though I keep no SPS and my 125 has 2 250w 14k EVC's w/ EVC Electronic Ballasts, not really sure if I really have the PAR for it. I am looking to possible switch to a different 14k bulb though the EVC are VERY Blue for being labeled a 14k.

I just have my 10gal softy up at the moment. I go next Sunday to pick up my 90 setup and it will be go time. I have many aquariums that are freshwater, but with a little time they will be salt tanks :)

I love the look of your lighting. I am partial to the blue hue, myself. My 250w are too yellow for my taste, and appear even yellower next to the 400w bulbs that are on each end. It looks like someone peed in the middle of the tank where the 250's are. In a few months when I need to change them, I'll be going with a different kelvin rating.

Duhhhh, I dunno. Whatever came in the box with the pendants.

Just kidding! (Well, partially, I'm pretty ignert when it comes to lighting.) The 250 watt bulbs are 10K HQI's, with T5 combos. Did you ever see the pendants that hung at TMR? I have two of the same ones. I think the bulbs were called Ocean Bulb, made by Aqua-Medic.

My 400 watt bulbs are 20K's. Also Aqua-Medic.

This will sound so stupid...what is XM? Isn't that sattelite radio?? I can get a bulb with sattelite radio??? :D J/K, that's the brand, right?

No wonder your 10ks look like pee... when you have a 10k next to a 20k, its going to look ALOT different. XM is a brand of bulb. They are a very very popular manufacturer of MH and they make the highest PAR 10k bulb available right now. They are known to be quite white in color. Some 10ks are more yellow than others. Thats why I asked what brand of bulb you have. You might consider changing your bulbs to the Phoenix on your next go around if you dont like the look of 10k. They are a 14k bulb and are by far the highest output 14k available. They will look alot better than the 10k....
