I have a mated pair of yellow headed jawfish. They have been with me for about a year, and have spawned three times. the male has been seen with the eggs in his mouth, and he makes himself scarce for a few days. I've never seen fry, so am assuming either the parents eat them, or the other tank inhabitants. I have just cleaned out the tank of everything except these fish. It is a 56 gallon with a 5 inch dsb and ample live rock. The only other thing in the tank are a pair of cleaner shrimp and a couple small hermits. Has anyone ever had success with breeding these fish, or can anyone give me info on the next level, after the eggs are present. Can anything be done to increase the chances of surviving fry, or is it not likely to happen? I'm looking for any info., as I'd like to try to breed them, but only if it's feasable. Thanks in advance.

Hi:
I recal a few peopl writing in here about having their jawfish males carrying eggs, I also recall that the fry are really tiny and take about 10-15days before metamorphosis, so it made them difficult. However w/ the right first foods, these fish aren't impossible.

i checked thru the breeders registry and found a few entries about breeding jawfish
