do you think that the jbj 2 x 55 watt pc, would be adequate for a 20 with some clams and lesser corals, and maybe 1 sps frag?

u can easily grow the darker color montiporas under that lighting.

some lower light demanding sps like montipora digita or some cap would be ok but put them high in the water column

personally i wouldn't do a clam w/out MH's but that is MO. other have done it but i would do only halides w/ clams

I have a 20 gallon high lit with a JBJ 55x2 PC system like you are referring to and everything in my tank is flourishing. Based on my experience, I have been able to support over 24 different soft corals including a squamosa clam which has been doing well and growing for the past three months. I dont feel like it would be necessary to place any corals in the upper portions of the water column unless you simply wanted them there for an appealing view.
I would make one suggestion though if you plan on using this particular lighting system. JBJ offers a leg stand system that elevates the light off of the water about three or four inches. I use these stands and leave the top off of my tank in order to keep the temperature down in the tank, especially during the summer months.
I have been extremely pleased with the results of my JBJ sytem on my 20 gallon. If you would like to see pictures of the light over the system or pictures of my system in general just e-mail me and I will send them - RyLiz429@aol.com Good Luck!

thanks for the advice. i am building the entire system so i was planning on adjusting the hight, of the lights. i also wanted to use a ten as a ref. sump, should i add a skilter, minus the carbon for the skimmer that it offers. and the only clam i wanted was a squamosa which i had read that it was a lower light species anyway, but thanks for the pora advice.
