Ok! Here is the scoop. My father is setting up i reef tank and its been 20+ years since he has had a salt water tank set up so he dousnt remember much so im trying to take him under my wing some.

He lives away from the city and had a well drilled for his new house. Can he use that water seeing as it is pure water from the ground or sould he get some kind of filtering system? There is no water store that he knows of anywhere close by.

What would you say or suggest for him.

He should still use an RO/DI system to provide consistency. Depending on where he is wells can be high in iron, nitrates, silicates, silt.....any number of things. Just because well water usually tastes good for drinking doesn't mean its good for a reef.

I use well water but through a RO/DI system. Works great!

I dont know what NC is but you will probably want to use a 5 micron or no smaller than a 1 micron for well water.
