anyone here drip kalk? You just mix it in with your top off water? Is it worth getting a Kalkreactor?

Not worth buying a kalk reactor. I will show you my IV drip. works great and is real cheap. You mix kalk with your top off but you have to drip it in and make sure the kalk powder doesn't get in the tank.

not worried about the powder sticking in clumps and then getting into the tank?

I use a 2 liter pet bottle with a small hole in 1/2 inch from the bottom and have an IV line in it. I put my kalk in there and fill it half way with water then shake it. I then fill it up all the way and shake again. Never had a problem with it clumping together. I also let it sit for a few hours before dripping into the tank. That way I am dripping only clear water and not the kalk powder.

evaporation is kicking my butt here too. I assume not as much as anyone with a sump, but enough to really notice.

This year evaporation is going to the extreme with me since I have a fan on 24/7 on the sump to cool everything down. Even with a chiller, I was hitting 88/89. Sucks too cause I got a couple coral who look like they won't make it this summer...At least I got the temp down to 84 now with the fan on.

yea, my temps are starting to climb too.. really need to get some fans in the stand to move some of that air out of there.

Slap a room fan on it and see if that helps. It shoule drop the temp a bit.

Temp stability had been my problem. I installed 4, 4" icecap temp regulated fans into my canopy, and they can cool it down quick!

Here is the kalk I bought. I went with the 450G ones and they seem to last quite a while.
