If you have the $s get a good protien skimmer Aqua C EV180, ETSS 600, a UV sterilizer, and decent pump at least 800gph. If you are not going any corals check out Life Reef wet/dry sytems. Good luck

I have a 125 gal and I just purchased a asm g3 skimmer I think it works awsome. It is a knock off of the euro reef skimmers but they use the same pumps and look exactly the same at $100 less. I would say the most important thing in a sw tank other biological filtration would be a skimmer. Championlighting.com has the asm skimmers if you want to check up on them.

Good Luck :D

I have a heavily stocked aggressive 180. Here is a breakdown on the equipment:

1. Aqua C EV240 powered by a mag12 with 5 liter drain container. (great skimmer!!!!!!)
2. Emperor Aquatics 25 watt sterilizer (need to go to 40 watt min.)
3. Ampmaster 3000 pump
4. 4 - 60" URI VHO lamps driven by 2 Icecap 660 ballasts. Also 2 Icecap variable speed fans in canopy. 1 pulls in, 1 pushes out.
5. Rainbow FB600 fluidized sand filter.
6. 2 - MJ1200 powerheads
7. Custom sump (approx. 70 gallon capacity) that has 2 - 1.5" inputs that empty into 2 - 100 micron filter bags.
8. WON titanium 300 watt heater
9. Approx. 150lbs. live rock

The tank has 2 - 1.5" and 2 -1" returns, all is rigid PVC.

If I had room under my stand, I would also run an Ocean Clear 325 canister filter just to help with the mechanical filtration. Big fish make a big mess!!

The Ampmaster can easily run the UV, canister and return. I do have the pump turned back a little.

If you are looking for a light fixture, let me know. I have a 72" Custom Sealife PC hood that was mounted inside the canopy. It is fan cooled with remote ballasts. I changed to VHO for a different look.

If you have any questions, let me know.
