I am very reluctant to post this, but must do so to hopefuly protect others. I bought a Lifereef sump (http://a7.cpimg.com/image/5F/87/9932127-2f6b-02000126-.jpg) from reefsss (local pickup) for $250. I know that new Lifereef sumps start at about $340 and I missed an opportunity to buy a brand new LF1-150 for $250 (http://www.reefcentral.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=83312). I inquired as to how old the sump was and he told me that it was 5 years old. Being new to the hobby, I couldn't figure out how to hook everything up to the sump, so I emailed Jeff at Lifereef with a picture asking for help. Looking at the picture, Jeff mentioned that this sump was 10 years old. I emailed the seller to explain the missing 5 years from the life of the sump, but have not heard back from him. I told him that had I known the sump was 10 yo, I would not have paid $250 for it.
If I hear a valid explanation from the seller and he'd be willing to lower the price, I will come back and modify this post.

I gave the seller a benefit of the doubt and emailed him again. This time he replied and his explanation was as follows:
That he was selling the sump for somebody else and was told that it was about 5 years old. Whatever the case may be, one of us was lied to and I got the short end of the stick. I feel that the sump depreciated much more over 10 years than what I paid for it. Furthermore, I feel that the seller should reimburse me a portion of the sale price and take up the matter with his "friend".
