Well I decided to put my carpenter skills to work and decided to build a canopy for my tank. I wanted to just buy one but to no avail. I AM CLUELESS ON HOW TO BUILD THE DOORS. . I could use some advice. Overall Im pretty happy with the build so far. Just need some sanding and staining to do.

what kind of doors are you looking for? I used 1x4" routed the edges and glued them together with a firring strip. Put hinges on the end and magnetic pickups to hold the door closed.

Thanks Murph. Im thinking of something thinner than 1". I need something light since the canopy is starting to get heavy.

You could take some 1x(2, 3 or 4) to make a frame. Cut a dado length wise with a table saw and slide in some 1/4" ply... Should be really light.

Sorry. No pics. The doors are just 1/4 birch. I couldnt find any pine that suited my needs. I just slapped some trim around it. The door are not on hinges. Since the doors are so light, and me constantly reaching in my tank, I didnt want them in the way and accidently break it. So I attached them with heavy duty velcro.
