fragging a finger leather

I have this nice neon/yellow green finger leather and it is growing too big for my tank. It has attached itself to a large rock - actually two rocks and I will need to frag it in the tank. Any precautions about it releasing chemicals? Extra reef carbon, purigen, etc. The tank is small and has zoos, mushrooms, candy cane, frogspawn, torch.
Let me know your experiences.

I have cut many in the tank but its best to remove them in a tub of water, if possible. They do slime somewhat when cut. However keeping the current up in the tank and the skimmer usually takes care of any problems.

Guess its depends on how large it is and how many cuts one is making. Still, I myself have never seen much of a problem with tank cutting. Thats also with no overly sensetive corals in there, esp. acro,s or the such.
