Any Houston Area Surfers?

Hi Everyone:

I'm going to be attending MACNA in September and I was thinking of mixing a little "pleasure with pleasure", and possibly checking any local surf spots that are reasonably close to Houston.

First question- ARE there any decent spots reasonably close to Houston? If yes- are there any MARSH members or MACNA attendees who will be up for catching some waves? Is early fall a good time for waves on the Gulf Coast?

Just curious. It would be totally cool to mix a fish trip with some surfing, too!

Hi Scott there are probably a few surfers in the club. There are some areas close by, but that is about an hour or so drive. Of course there is Port Aransas and that is an added 3 hour drive. You would definitely need to get a rental car.

Of course in September the waves can be good since the gulf likes to send systems in that affect the surf.
