I have had it for a year , it shrinks and blossem up all the time. My PH was low for a while and looked great. but I bumped up my PH from 7.8 to 8.2. my polyps and zoos are looking great but my leahter has shrunk big time and turned a dark gray. Is it sufering from shock? or dying it has never looked this bad before. Nitrate and nitrites are just a trace salinty in @ 1.025. I run coral life 2 10,000 k's and 2 acentics.

I feel that reefplus had helped injured corals along in my own tank. That is the only thing I could think to recommend beyond just letting it heal itself.

After it shrinks up does it sloth off a skin. If thats the case then it is shedding and getting bigger. Mine does this gets really small and dark colored. After a while the polyps will start to pop out and the skin will shed off. If you shine a light on it at night it will look shiney.

well good news, it did what you said drowningdreamer. When i turned my lights on I noticed it was sheading a lot of skin and now its real full and the polyps are out. Its the first time it has done this. I have seen it shed before

I probably wouldn't worry too much as long as it doesn't smell bad or show signs of deterioration. I have an 2 1/2 year old finger leather that goes thru phases of looking really bad for days and even weeks at a time especially when I have made drastic changes to the water or lighting. She has pulled thru every time so far.
