Pat,
Looks like your on your way! What's the plywood box for, is that what the tank came in? Are you going to keep the acrylic covers over your tank or are they just there now while your hood is being constructed? They may get soft if there plastic, depending on how much air your pulling through your hood.

The finished plywood is the start of a hood (minus router work, trim pieces , doors, etc). The plastic is a definate concern the halides will be 12 inches above the plastic but at this point it is a concern that the plastic may melt - Hopefully not as it was a 85 dollar sheet of acrylic. There will be 2 large pusher fans and 2 outlets for the air movement in the hood.

Really nice!:eek2: Love the sump. Pretty neat the way you got the Sea Swirls set up on each end that actually looks like it will work a lot better then being on the back since now it will sweep behind the rocks. You should dump the tank covers though. Even if they don't melt they'll warp. You'll get salt creep on them and hinder your lighting. If that doesn't happen they'll just hinder your lighting even clean.

Looks great. I agree with Zmann, though. Eventually those covers will be removed! Suggestion: look into protecting the plastic braces from UV with electrical tape or other means at this stage. It will get brittle and could eventually fail!

I just ordered an Iwaki RT-100 and an MR-3 with a WC-3. Ouch again. Man, I got to find a part time job and I haven't turned the lights on in the main tank yet.
