Anyone know how to tell porcelian crabs apart?

It's harder to sex porcellanid crabs than true crabs (porcellanids are in the same group as hermit crabs). The abdomenal segments are folded under the body. Attached to these segments are appendages called pleopods which in other crustaceans are used for walking or swimming. The males have fewer pleopods than the females.
