Weird wiring problem. Here's the wiring plan for the VHO 660 ballast.

Ran power cables from Ballast to switch (timer switch mounted in receptacle).

Ran pig tail with moulded plug (grounded garbage disposal pigtail) to power strip.

Matched wiring on endcaps to diagram.

Set timer switch to off. Set power strip to off.

Plugged in pig tail to power strip. Turned on strip. Turned on timer switch. VHO's light up perfectly.

Here's the problem. When I switch power off at the timer switch, shorts out and blows power strip fuse.

Only thing I can think of is that the electronic switch is too slow and causing an Arc?? Help!!!!!

Update:

Tried replacing the timer switch with a standard wall switch. Same problem. Boy this is irritating. Need more beer.

Greatest bonehead play in history!!!!!!

Connected hot and neutral to switch. Open switch, short circuit. Close switch, power.

Must be dumbest thing I've done recently.

Then again, could have been worse. Wife could have been home through most of this.

worse yet Stoli wife could have been home and you could have been zapped.... that always makes for a good show....

speaking from experience never stand on an aluminum ladder with your hand in a drop ceiling and touch a live power lead.....

tho it is better than caffine for waking you up...
