OK,

So here is my tank so far.

Here is the finished stand and hood that was done by my brother-in-law who is a cabinet maker

It is made out of solid OAK but the frame is just 4X2 pine.

Here is my first attempt - you can tell I am not a carpenter

The sump was made up by my other Bro-in-law who is a plastic fabricator

and fuge which sits at the top of the side cabinet and will allow pod to flow into the main display tank - well that is the idea.

Then I was looking at getting Tunze streams but felt they were to expensive - so Off to buy a OM 4 way and a sequence 10k pump (2,100 gal.) Ended spending more than the tunze and made a complete mess of the plumbing. Works out you can't have to many 90 elbows as these take away the head pressure and leave you with a trickle.

Plan was to make a closed loop like Melev did with a SWCD - http://www.melevsreef.com/closedloop.html
Well didn't work and now I am looking at drilling the glass and having a small amount of plumbing going directly to the outlet. Also I am doing what Paul from OM explains as a 90 flow. I want the flow so great I can pin a fish against the back wall - na but it would be good to get it very turbulent as possible.

So I have ordered my Glass drill bits which I felt I could not do my self but found this great thread on RC which gives a step by step guide for drilling. http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=603816
So waiting on these now before I can progress any further.

Will let you know how the drilling goes.

Andrew

Looks like you got yourself an MR-1 and possibly an MRC Dual Nano CR. I have used both in my previous 75g system and they work great!! The cabinet looks great!! That is exactly what I plan to do on my 90g system. I have the stand built an am slowly (with an emphasis on slowly) getting it finished. I am also ordering all the parts I am going to need for the complete system. Here is a picture of the stand out in the garage with one door being held on with a clamp.

You never did tell me where Oz is and what you meant by "I'm going back to Oz"?? Are you moving back to Australia?? If so, will you swim out to the Great Barrier Reef and get me some cool corals and ship 'em to me?!?

Oz is Australia. Where I am born and bread.
Been to the reef a lot of times which got me hooked on this hobby.
A lot of stock in sydney however comes from the reefs in and near Perth - other side of australia.

Mr2 and a CR-2 from MRC. Never used them but keen to fire them up.

Post man came today with no packages so will have to wait another day B4 hole drilling starts.

Hey, Ive got an MR-2 also, what pump are you using to drive it?? I have the GenX PCX-55. Thinking about a GEO calcium reactor though, but may do the MR, just don't know yet. I've drilled a few tanks before and it went fine. I took it much slower than recommended and no issues at all. Keep it lubricated is the key. Also, one thing I learned is to make you drain hole to the pump a little bigger than the inlet on the pump. Do plenty of reading and asking what the other kids on RC do with their closed loop holes.

Forgot to ask, when are you moving back to Oz??

Not for a year so time to get this all right and tested - not running tho as the LR is 2 expensive here.

Might need you to get me a few bits shipped to me in Ireland.

I am after some hatcherys like this http://www.aquaticeco.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/product.detail/iid/6054/cid/1694

and I need to get a stash of Mrs Wages Pickling lime. CAn't get that stuff here and it is on the supermarket shelves there.
I got an Iwaki 55 RLT on the MRC-2, Got the US pump as they were expensive in Oz so I also have a transformer for the power.

Hey, Aquatic Eco is 1 day shpping from me, they are here in Florida. I have one of those hatchery kits, they are simple but effective. I used Mrs Wages before too. I believe I can get 4 pounds of it shipped to my door for something like $20 - $30 USD. Yeah, whatever you need, let me know and we can do it like we have in the past.
