I already posted my frustration with my 29. I'm ready for a new tank but...
1. The only place it can go in my house is just big enough for the 29.
2. The house is very old and the floors are strong but flexy. (the tank moves when the dog runs by it)
3. I'm planning to move locally probably late this summer or next spring.

So, I don't want to go to big. I was at CF yesterday and today looking at an AGA 50 breeder. Does anyone think this is a mistake? Its only 36" long but it's nice and deep, which is my main problem with the 29. I'm very stressed and burned at this point so I need help so I don't make another bad mistake. :sad1:

A 50 breeder is nice. The problem is the 36" length. You will pay a premium for lighting that size. You will get more for your money with a 48" tank, MUCH MORE in the long run,in fact.I would wait to set up the new aquarium until you move. That way you can plan on what space you will have to work with. Just my opinion. The waiting is the hardest part.

50 gallon AGA tanks are nice. I just switched to a 65 recently. I like 36" tanks because I am limited with a small apartment. If your looking to go 48", I have a friend with a 90 for sale with stand, sump and I believe rturn pump. I know he wants under 200.00. Maybe alot less. let me know and I can help you hook up with him.

I agree with you about the 4 footer. However if I don't do something soon I will probably end up tearing down my tank. Right now I have 1 175w Aqualine 10k on an icecap, and a CSL 2x65 watt elecro lite kit w/ actinics. I was going to use my existing and get another setup exactly the same. with a creative reflector it should work very well I think but then again...

Whatever you do, don't do it hasty man... Take your time, plan it out, don't rush into a major purchase like a tank. Not so much for the financial aspect, as it will be a HUGE PIA if you change your mind about something down the road.

consider that 90 sold. I'll find room for it and brace the floor!!!!!!

Lighting for a 36" will cost you less then a 48" tank. Having before a 65g tank (36") and a 40g now (36") and a 55g and a 120g. Trust me you spend much less in lighting if you go the same route. 48"= 2mh 2vho. 36"=1mh 2vho.. One less bulb plus the 36' vho's are cheaper. Even if you were to go 4vho"s on both tanks it will still cost you less, the 36" bulbs are cheaper. Another benefit of 40g breeders and 50g no center brace to block light or to work around. Very proud owner of a 36" 40g dominant SPS tank here! Why so many tanks? I like building the cabinets and the whole initial setup. I think that fad has passed me though. Until I buy another house and do a room divider like Gary's.

The AGA 50 breeder has a center brace. I would really like to buy the 90. Hopefully today. It would be a while before I can set it up but I will start building stand and canopy. depending on how keith's friends looks.

My bad 40's dont. I always thought Keiths 50g breeder had no center brace. Maybe not.

If your going to buy a tank that size you should just up one for the 120g. More front to back room makes it easier on aquascaping. Unless you like the deal your getting on the 90g.

AGA according to their web site doesnt make a 50g breeder. This must be the reason why the 50 you talk of has a center brace. They make a 30 and a 40.

My 50 had a center brace. AGA no longer makes a "breeder" in 50 gal. They used to. TNow they make 50 gallons with the center brace and thinner glass.

the tank CF has upstairs is a 50gal AGA w/center brace. Dan called it a breeder. I'm not sure what it really is. Doesn't matter, I'm goin BIGGER. I went to buffalo today to look at a used 90. I think I'm gonna hold off and get a reef ready 90 AGA. It's a good deal for the used one. its a perfecto in nice shape painted back. No scratches, Descent stand. I think I'll be ****ed after it's set up that I didn't go for the reef ready. Plus I want to build my own stand.

My 50 gal does not have a brace. It is an older tank. Very nice too. I also have another 50 gal and a 65 with no brace. The glass on these tanks are a half inch thick. But AllGlass cut the cost by using thinner glass with a brace.
