Calcium reactors, auto and manual kalkwasser dosing are ways to accelerate the nice purple, pink and green calc algae growth. A buddy of mine knew I was testing various additives and gave me a bottle of Purple Up. I quit the kalkwasser and other stuff for three weeks. In my tank, the pink/purple calc algae increased quite a bit. I add a half a bottle cap of Purple Up in the 30G every morning or anytime while the lights are out. Great results! The critters don't seem to mind the 15 minutes of cloudiness after each dosage. No menacing growth of unwanted algae has occurred while using this product. Nice!
