Hi all,

This is only my 2nd post ever but I've been a big lurker since 2004! I've always been kinda intimidated...but anyways, here goes. I have a 55 gallon tank that has been up since July 2005. It's a 55 gallon AGA with megaflow and a 20 gallon long AGA sump. I use a euroreef skimmer and a Current Usa Orbit 4x65W.

I keep some very basic corals...some sinularia, xenia, zoos, toadstool, greenstars and a blasto. As far as fish I have a couple of ocelaris (?) clowns, a skunk clown and a six-line wrasse.

So far things have been great, Ive been looking to upgrade to a larger tank (at least a 75), some sort of wavemaking device, as well as an auto-topoff system.

Here are a few photos, its neat to see how things change so much over time. I've always been kind of bummed that i can't use my canopy b/c of the lighting...i really like the look. Oh well!

Alot easier to keep the tank cool in the summer when you have an open top, but I see what you mean.

Nice tank. Clean and simple.

Scott

PS I have more or less the same tank as you except that it is a 210G AGA.

Nice reef! Even though you're not using the canopy that lighting setup looks really clean. I like it, hope to see you at the next meeting if you can make it.

Thanks for looking guys! i appreciate that...

Mothra, I'll be at the meeting...
Do you have pics of your 75?

Jesus - Your tank is mostly SPS, yah? It looks great...I like the aquascaping alot, i like the ridge look!

Plankton - Saw your tank too, its pretty impressive as well -- hard to believe that's 210, it's stocked so nicely. Cool clams!

I think im going to upgrade this summer...im getting my floors done so i'd have to move the tank anyhow. The floors will cost enough as it is but i can't help but think I'd kick myself if I didn't upgrade from the 55. I'd love to keep some tangs and such but the 55 just doesn't give em enough room to get around.

I don't have any tank pics really, I need to do that one of these days soon. I wish I would have done it a long time ago; most of my corals were grown from 1" frags and I don't have any progress pics.

Moving your tank is a good excuse to upgrade. I'd really like to get a 180 myself, but I'm comitting to keeping my current tank until I move, which is going to be a few years probably. By then it should be looking really nice and filled in. Although I can see upgrading our nano tanks between now and then :D

Nice tank. I have a 55, too. It is a bow front, my tang does just fine in there, but I always knew I was upgrading to my 360. If you are sure you are upgrading you could have one now, and move him later.

Nice to know of another reefer in Stockton. :)
