So which would you go with for a 110. the G2, G3, coralife 125, or 220? I am really leaning towards the G2, but if the coralife are basically the same thing, then id like to save $100. Let me know what you all think

i like coralife..... a little hard to time it perfect the first few times... but after that it is all smooth skimming

The Coralife is actually the same as a Pacific Coast Imports skimmer. It is a decent skimmer but the pump is underpowered and it has a tendancy to get clogged easily and performance is reduced...so I have heard. It is a good skimmer but not in the same league as an ASM.

I always thought that the coralife wasnt up to par, but i just read something saying they were almost identical, just thought i would check with you guys first.

I'm running a G-3 on my 65 and wouldn't go any smaller on your 120. You might even look at the G-4

I would have to disagree that a Coralife and ASM being on the same page.

How big is the sump going to be? IMO What I would do is add up your total water Volume and times that by 2 for example. If you where to get a 75 gallon sump then I would not get any skimmer rated under a 370. But that is just my opinion. Never hurts to over skim but you will kick your self later wishing you would have spent just a little more and gotten the bigger one.

I am running both the 220(on a tank I take care of) and the g3. I see incredible things out of the CLSS but is cheaper built than the asm-having said that I feel asm could benefit greatly with a longer or more narrow skimmer neck. The pump on the cl is not as good as my sedra. The skim is good on both but the ASM is not as quirky as the CLSS and not as much tinkering to get it right. You could not go wrong with either. I do like the specs on the octopus NW-200 skimmer and I bet it will perform better than my g3 or CLSS, bigger chamber and taller-just a hunch-cheaper also. Check out ebay. Good luck!

is there any way to make there be less tinkering with the CLSS?? like a better pump or something? or is it just the way that it is build?

every time i clean out the cup, it takes 5-10 min to retime the skimmer again

that is typical with most skimmers. If you start to walk towards an aquaC or even give any quick movement or look at that skimmer they will shut down for 40 minutes. JJ & JMHE
