So, what do I feed a Harlequin Serpernt Star? I think I read somewhere that they can not live on detritus alone. Or?
Thanks. :)

I've never seen one before can you post a picture of the star?
Sounds like that star could be a yummy meal for harlequin shrimp though, just from the name.. hehe

It depends on the star but usually not. Most of them are detritus feeders, scavenging excess animal food, dead animals, waste, etc.

I hand feed my two serpent stars occasionally with a bit of chopped mussel or tiger prawn, but mostly they just feed on the detritus. My black & white serpent has grown from a 4" baby a year ago to a 12" plus monster today - fascinating creatures. Note to self: must get more ;)
