I have an older style one on a 120 with a 30 sump. They are hard to adjust until you get the hang of it. A properly sized pressure rated pump is key. I tried a mag 12, mag 36, ampmaster 3000, iwaki 40rlt all were mediocre at best. I now run a throttled panworld 200ps on it and it skims very well. The injection system is not sealed so you are limited on how hard you can overdrive them before water flies out the bio towers. Overall I think its a good solid piece of equipment. Way overpriced at 660.00 though, considering you need a 250.00 pump to run it properly.

I got a good deal on one with the Iwaki 40 pump and thought I'd run it at the same time as my jumbo for a bit. I may try the beckett mod on it but then it def. needs a bigger pump but I've heard some switch the beckett mod back because it didn't work as good. From digging around threads the only real neg. I found on the bigger etss's is that you need to clean those bioball diffusers weekly and get it set for water height vs. sump water height. I'll try them togather then I'll shut down my big cc and watch my nitrate/phosphates and see what happens. I think I could always resell the skimmer/pump for the 365 I'm paying for it or at least close if I don't like it.

That same 365 bucks would get you a recirculating G3 with the gate valve and then you would probably see the jumbo stop working. :D

I haven't cleaned the bioball diffusers since last August/September when I set up the 120. Here is a little shy of a 12 hour shift.

I think it still works OK.

You will need to clean the cup a couple times a week. Here is me being lazy for about 5 days.

Here it is right now all cleaned up and ready to go again.

Good bubble saturation it looks like from the pics. So you're doing about a gallon per day? Or am I reading your marks wrong?

You are correct on the marks. Yes I try to get about a gallon a day.
