View Full Version : Helfrichi Firefish
These are pictures of my friend's new pair of Helfrichi firefish...gorgeous fish, imo (gorgeous price too...hehe).
He got these for about $100 each, which is a pretty good price for these guys. (They can typically run up to $200 per)
very colorful fish, but 100 ea. way too much for a small dinky fish.

NKT,
Oooh, pretty fish! Are they a pair as in male and female?

To answer Lisa's question, yes, these are mated pairs. The smaller one is the female.

Leonard,
Are they your fish?
They are beautifully coloured and I gather that they look much more stunning in the flesh too. I've never had the good fortune to actually see one at my LFS. Not that that's a bad thing. I might have been tempted to buy a couple if I had and then I would have had to hide my credit card bill from my husband :)

These are my babies. Personally, they're worth every penny I spent.

Hey Leonard,
Old post I know but I'm considering the purchase of a pair of these for my 120G. My worry is the two well-established common firefish. Any experience with compatibility of these two types? Will I need to remove the common species? Any input on these gorgeous fish is much appreciated!

I prefer the common $11 firefish, but there both pretty cool. Haven't seen a firefish I didnt like yet.

Awesome!! The colors are very unusual compared to most fish you see.

i would remove the red firefish before adding the helfrichs. i had a red firefish in a 75 that had been established for several months and then tried adding a purple. the red ignored him for a week or two, but then i came home to my red firefish with shredded fins and the purple firefish drying up on the floor :(
